Open Question: Comfortable yet stylish shoes with good arch support for a teen?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

I have flat feet and I have to wear orthotics but they don’t always help my feet. My feet are still flat and it hurts to wear basically any shoe that doesn’t have my orthotics.
I also have PE this year as one of my classes so I need some good running shoes or athletic shoes that are cute yet comfortable with good arch support.
Can anyone help me??
(I’m not sure if I put this in the right section so excuse me if you think I didn’t.)

Open Question: Homecoming Help Please?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

I am a freshman, so this year will be my first homecoming. I don’t really know what to wear. It’s semi-formal (guys must wear button ups, dress slacks, dress shoes, and a tie; girls must wear dresses). We can wear strapless and spaghetti strap dresses (and ones with sleeves, of course), and they have to be longer than mid-thigh.
On a daily basis, I wear jeans and pullover sweaters; or tees, jeans, and cardigans. I also wear dresses sometimes (it’s just hard to find ones that are long enough - to the knee).
Most colors work for me (I haven’t found one that looks bad on me…).
I have big boobs (32D), a small waist (26 inches or so), and athletic thighs (I’m a soccer player…).
My favorite stores are J. Crew, Nordstrom, Ann Taylor LOFT, Saks, and Ralph Lauren.
I really don’t like stores like Forever 21, Wet Seal, etc., etc. (most non-department stores in the mall).
I have a price limit of probably $300 (but my parent’s would probably buy me a $400 one, too…).
Could you please please find me some examples of what you think would be good? Dresses that if you saw someone wearing, you would absolutely love?

Thank you so so much in advance!!

appropriate (students will be required to exchange or purchase a new
appropriately fitting uniform shirt if an oversized or overly small shirt is
purchased). Shirts may not be altered. Shirts may be purchased at registration, in
the main office or online. Students may wear one appropriately sized shirt
underneath their uniform shirt for warmth, but they may not be visible beyond the
sleeves or below the uniform shirt.

2. Pants/Shorts/Skirts – Are to be in solid colors, plaid or floral (no camouflage
and no logos or designs larger than the Dale uniform shirt logo). Jeans are
acceptable. They must be of an appropriate size and length, and they must fit at
the waist and crotch (within one size of student’s actual waist and inseam
measurement). They must be worn at the waistline. Pants, shorts and skirts must
be hemmed (not frayed, slit at the seams, stapled, taped or rubberbanded) and may
not have any holes or tears. Athletic/sweat shorts/pants are not to be worn (except
during PE). Skirts and shorts must be at least 2 inches below the fingertips in
length. Pants, shorts or skirts which are too tight, revealing, or which allow
underclothing to show are not allowed.

3. Outerwear – A Dale sweatshirt with a Dale logo is available for purchase. Non-
uniform outerwear (long-sleeved sweater, sweatshirt or jacket) will be allowed if
it is appropriately sized and has no logos or designs (larger than the logo on the
polo shirts). A uniform shirt must be worn underneath any outerwear including
Dale sweatshirts. Students may not wear their sweatshirt hoods up on their heads.
Exception - Thursday is College Day. Students may wear a college shirt or sweatshirt on Thursdays.

4. Shoes/Socks – Students will wear athletic shoes or low cut leather shoes. No
steel toed or heavy boots, open toe or open heeled sandals, no flip-flops or
slippers are allowed. Socks can not meet the length of shorts.

5. Accessories – Items that are considered dangerous or a distraction may not be
worn. No wallet chains may be worn. Hairstyles that are distracting to the
learning process are not allowed (style, color). Facial piercing is not allowed
(other than ear piercings or piercings for religious reasons). Earrings must be the
size of a nickel or smaller. Belt buckles must be plain with no initials on them
and may not be oversized. Belts must be the appropriate length for student waist
size and the belt must be kept in the belt loops. Metal belts or belts with metallic
studs are not acceptable. A pair of gloves may only be worn when it is cold
outside (they may not be worn in the classrooms).

6. Hats – Only official unaltered Dale Hats may be worn on campus. They may
only be worn outdoors with the bill of the hat pointed directly forward. No
headcoverings other than the Dale hat unless for religious reasons or verified
medical.

Open Question: Anyone have experience with aircast braces?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

I have chronic ankle injuries and am due for surgery (total reconstructive) soon. I was told to wear a brace full time but all the ones I have are either too tight, hot, uncomfortable, bulky, or ineffective. I am looking into the aircasts because I had one awhile ago and like it. The question is… Which is more supportive… comfortable… cooler (temperature)…. and the least bulky so it will fit into an athletic shoe): the choices are the aircast A60 or the aircast airsport… please advise… also if you have had success with another brace let me know

Open Question: why do people always say?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Why do people always say they are wearing tennis shoes, when you/they don’t play tennis?
I call them athletic shoes. I am not an athlete, but can not think of anything else to call them.
I know this is kind of a stupid question but 1 other question I answered tonight, got me thinking about this.
Does any one have any other suggestions to call “tennis” shoes?

That is a great answer vibrant!

Open Question: Who can help me with these 2 precalculus problems? I have a test tomorrow & i don’t remember anything!?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

1) Athletic Advantage makes athletic shoes for aerobics and running. Their sales manager has determined that their profit, P(x), on x pairs of shoes can be found by P(x)= -x^2 + 90x - 500. Find the maximum profit that the shoe company can make. Find your answer by hand and by using the graphing calculator.

2) Steve and Tom are conducting a physics experiment. They will launch a model rocket and use the formula to find the max. height that the rocket reaches based on the time that it takes for it to land. According to the formula, that the height of a rocket, h(t), t seconds after it is launched is given by the formula, h(t)= 160t - 16t^2 . Find the max. height the rocket will reach. Height is in feet.

I REALLY need your help, I have a test tomorrow & I don’t remember how to do this.
