Open Question: Homecoming Help, Pretty Please =]?

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

I am a freshman, so this year will be my first homecoming. I don’t really know what to wear. It’s semi-formal (guys must wear button ups, dress slacks, dress shoes, and a tie; girls must wear dresses). We can wear strapless and spaghetti strap dresses (and ones with sleeves, of course), and they have to be longer than mid-thigh.
On a daily basis, I wear jeans and pullover sweaters; or tees, jeans, and cardigans. I also wear dresses sometimes (it’s just hard to find ones that are long enough - to the knee).
Most colors work for me (I haven’t found one that looks bad on me…).
I have big boobs (32D), a small waist (26 inches or so), and athletic thighs (I’m a soccer player…).
My favorite stores are J. Crew, Nordstrom, Ann Taylor LOFT, Saks, and Ralph Lauren.
I really don’t like stores like Forever 21, Wet Seal, etc., etc. (most non-department stores in the mall).
I have a price limit of probably $300 (but my parent’s would probably buy me a $400 one, too…).
Could you please please find me some examples of what you think would be good? Dresses that if you saw someone wearing, you would absolutely love?

Thank you so so much in advance!!

Open Question: How can i match shoes to an outfit?

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Hi - you know when you have an idea of something that you really want, but you don’t actually know if they exist?

Well - i found some shoes!

They kinda look like this:
http://www.shoeblitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/koalabooties.jpg

But they are designer and have a dark wooden platform heel.

The problem is that because they are quite quirky and unusual i’m not entirely sure how to blend them into an outfit…

Would a black high gloss leather bag do it or maybe a belt? Maybe both? Or is shoe + bag/belt too obvious?

Should i go for just one or the other or would matching bag + belt + shoes be too much?

How else could i make an outfit out of them?

Open Question: Isn’t this Unbelievable?

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Vanity Fair added up the cost of Cindy McCain’s outfit for the Republican National Convention. Here are their totals…..

Cindy McCain

Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000

Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500

Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000

Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000

Shoes, designer unknown: $600

Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100

Does your clothing allowance match this? How many hungry children could be fed with this kind of money?

Open Question: Best heels for going clubbing in?

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

I go out clubbing a lot–I’m in college–and my feet are always killing me at the end of the night from wearing 3 or 4 inch heels all night. I tried aerosoles, but they worked better more for everyday wear–not really comfortable for clubbing. Girls, what heels do you swear by (that aren’t super expensive designer shoes that are like over hundreds of dollars) that are sexy and comfortable to wear going out clubbing in? Thanks!

Watching your husband claim to care about the Middle Class: Priceless

Resolved Question: Cindy McCain wore a $300,000 outfit. What is the difference between an elitist and the rich?

Wow! No wonder McCain has so many houses: his wife has the price of a Scottsdale split-level hanging from her ears.

I did not say the Obamas were poor, nor did I say anything about how tacky Cindy’s outfit was as she was up on stage encouraging others to donate money for Gustav.
Meg M: If anyone can put an estimate on a outfit it probably should be Vanity Fair.

Open Question: Why would Cindy wear a $250,000 outfit?

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

I know she’s rich but i thought the candidates were trying to relate to the American people that can’t pay their mortgage. I’m trying to find out how much Michelle’s outfit cost but i can’t i know it was from a Chicago designer, and her daughters dresses were from Old Navy and The Limited. But damn Cindy’s outfit is ridiculous!

Thanks to Vanity Fair, we now have an idea of how much their outfits probably cost. Check out the estimates:

Laura Bush
Oscar de la Renta suit: $2,500
Stuart Weitzman heels: $325
Pearl stud earrings: $600–$1,500
Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325

Cindy McCain
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000
Shoes, Taryn Rose: $475
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100

LOL, i’m not jealous, i mean i’d love to be able to wear an Oscar De La Renta outfit of course. I’m just saying why would she over do it when one of the biggest crisis for regular Americans is mortgage payments and she’s basically wearing the whole dang mortgage in one outfit. Especially after the whole thing of Mccain not being able to answer how many houses they have.
i am trying to do you republicans a favor, will someone let her know that maybe that will not help regular people relate to her. I know Obama and Michelle are millionaires as well, and i’m sure they could afford expensive outfits too. Maybe Cindy even got the outfit for free, rich people always do. It’s a valid point, especially when Republicans call Obama an Elite.
And i found this estimate on Perezhilton.com, i didn’t like search for it. It’s only fair, if people want to say Obama is out of touch.
